Project
Food Group Order App for
Office Workers in South Korea
Our app is designed to simplify the process of ordering in company groups. By providing a full list of restaurants near the users’ location with menu items attached and enabling colleagues to vote for what they want to eat for lunch together, the app acts as an assistant that consolidates orders in a clear and organized manner.
Particularly focusing on the quality of office workers’ lunchtime, our app aims to improve their decision-making process by putting restaurant choices together in an orderly manner and fostering better communication and collaboration among colleagues. By doing so, we hope to join forces in a collective journey that inches closer to the enhancement of office workers’ satisfaction with lunchtime.

PROBLEM SPACE
Many office workers have a very short lunch break, so they need to find a place to quickly have their meal and head back to work.
PRELIMINARY RESEARCH
Our design process kicked off with targeted interviews aimed at understanding the lunchtime dynamics of South Korean office workers. We engaged with 17 individuals, drawing from both past and current professional experiences. These interviews were designed to dig deep into the daily lunch routines, preferences, and challenges faced by office workers.
Result
When asked about their lunch preferences at work, participants overwhelmingly favored external options when no cafeteria was available. A striking 70% of respondents expressed a preference for dining out, highlighting a clear inclination towards exploring external food options during the workday.
DESK RESEARCH
1. Article Review
The installation of “Catch Table” recorded a 65% increase in the latter half of 2022 compared to the first half of the year, ranking first place in the lifestyle category. “Table-ing” was second with the increase rate of 44%. Competition among related services is predicted to intensify.
“Baemin” has picked “user experience” as one of the most important 2023 food service related keywords. This indicates that customers started to value efficiency in the overall process of eating, including the time of searching, waiting and etc. Baemin’s executive mentioned “Concerns dealing with ‘what to eat’, ‘how to eat’ are becoming more detailed.”
